Emerging technologies are coming into play every day in the world of digital broadcasting and are continuously shifting the goalposts of what is happening. ThinkDigitalTV teamed up with Nigel Gordon and Sarah Shackley-Veneman from Gekko Media Solutions, an Online Media Agency to produce an infomercial addressing these issues. The infomercial was to show the next steps of where the digital broadcasting is heading and what future trends are around the corner. The film provides valuable insight for newcomers, professionals and ThinkDigitalTV members where there are new challenges to overcome in the next few years. The next step was to find someone in the broadcasting business who could give the film it's credibility and be able to talk about this in-depth. Media anthropologist / insultant guru Jonathan Marks was the ideal person to give the right insights into the business model of broadcasting. Jonathan has over 30 years of broadcasting experience, having worked for broadcasters, BBC, ORF-Vienna and Radio Netherlands Worldwide and is now a key player in the industry, giving interviews and been a keynote speaker at some of the world’s biggest broadcasting conferences. He has also been hired as an advisory consultant by some of the leading organisations in the world. Gekko Media Solutions shot the film at Jonathan’s house in January 2010 . He was a consumate professional and talks about emerging technologies and how traditional broadcasting and story telling will be effected. He looks at the lifecycle of future content and what the distribution platforms will be, enabling the sharing of an idea with the public. Nigel Gordon produced and directed it, Hans Ris from K238Studios did the camera, sound and editing. It was shot from 2 different angles, a mid-shot and close-up whilst including some IBC footage and that was a wrap.

Gekko Media Solutions is a company that understands how to create content as a form of social currency in a world where content is created and distributed in a Peer2Peer network. Their goal is to drive brands to these online and mobile destinations where they can build greater customer loyalty. We hope that the ThinkDigitalTV audience finds the film both engaging and stimulating, enjoy!

With the rise of IPTV, TV Channels and broadcasters could become increasingly under threat – As rights owners, producers and studios could offer their product direct to consumers this will cause a big change in the industry as broadband penetration increases to over ½ billion users globally.
Consumers wanting to watch content whenever they want it could find it by going direct to the source.
Does this mean that the major TV channels need a dedicated IPTV platform to try and countenance this??? This will undoubtedly upset the broadcast platforms!!
Increasingly consumers will store TV and video content in the same way they store their music. P2P environments for all type of content will also be on the rise to supply the consumer’s diverse demands!!
IPTV is now the 4th distribution platform after Terrestrial, Satellite and Cable. And Mobile TV will inevitably go down the same route!!
Consumers will be closer to the promise of being able to access any programme, anytime, anywhere and on any device. In order to survive in this fast changing environment what are you doing to continence this shift in delivery?
I'd be very interested in your views.

Hey everyone, here's my first entry into the world of blogging on thinkdigitaltv.com.

This morning I had two voice sessions. They were different in content, yet spot on similar in direction. Loud, screaming, excited retail. So who were they for? One was for a car dealership, the other for a furniture chain. Now, it's always floored me as to why clients and producers believe that screaming at the audience works better than simply talking to the audience in a informational way.

My opinion is - it all leads up to a higher tune out factor. When I hear announcers on television or radio yelling at me to hurry in now to buy something and this is my last frigging chance to save like never ever before in the history of mankind...ummmmmmmmm gee, for some reason I don't really believe them.
